Daim & Nubuck
VELOUR
Alternative material names:
Velour leather, buckskin, suede
Shoe material symbol:
Features:
- The surface
- Long-haired nap
Properties:
- Manufactured from the inside layer of animal skins
- Natural material that needs to “breathe“
Care:
- Suede leather shoes need oils in order to keep the nap soft and supple
- The comparatively long nap means that water and dirt can penetrate the fibres relatively easily; this can be prevented using a water-proofing agent
- Restores the original colour
Tips:
Never only use water on suede & nubuck, otherwise it will dry out and become hard. Impregnate your new suede shoes before wearing them for the first time in order to prevent dirt and water from penetrating the leather. When using a coloured shoe care product always use a slightly lighter colour; suede & nubuck absorb this and will become darker.
NUBUCK LEATHER
Alternative material names:
Matt leather, buckskin, suede, nubuck
Shoe material symbol:
Features:
- The surface looks and feels rough but not hairy
Properties:
- Manufactured from an outside layer of animal skin
- Lightly textured leather
Care:
- Buckskin shoes need oil to keep the leather soft and supple
- Restores original colour tone
Tip:
Never treat buckskin leather with standard shoe creams. This type of leather absorbs this and the original colour is lost.
