1914
The story began in Dresden. For the sum of 750 Reichsmark, Curt Baumann bought a sewing machine and a hand punch. Thereby, insoles were produced which when compared with today´s product have only the basic shape in common.

1939
Insoles were produced, which were so sought after that the young company, equipped with hand punch machines, was already employing 400 employees.

1945
The Second World War was not able to impede the successful development of Bama, and so production was started up again in Mosbach.

1949
The newly constructed Mosbach site had to be expanded after only a few years. And also in the 1950s the first steps were taken to develop an international sales organisation.

1965
Production capacity at the Mosbach factory was no longer sufficient to meet demand and so a second manufacturing plant was set up with modern high rack storage facilities in Mosbach-Neckarelz and entered production.

1980
BAMA insoles were already the clear market leader in Europe. The new headquarter building in Mosbach was constructed and inaugurated.

1993
To offset increasing price pressures a new factory was set up in neighbouring Poland, in order to make the insole production – heavily influenced by manual input – continue to be competitive.

1997
In the interests of achieving a successful penetration in the world market of the number one brand BAMA, the medium-sized Mosbach enterprise was handed over to the globally operating consumer goods company SARA LEE.

2004
In order to concentrate the core company competence in all aspects of shoes, the shoe care production previously scattered at other Sara Lee plants was moved to the BAMA production facilities at Gorzow. Here, investment in  the future was once again carried out in the form of the latest technologies and laboratories.
