Smooth leather 

This term denotes a number of different leather types in the Tana range:

SMOOTH LEATHER

Alternative material names:
Shagreen, reptile leather
Shoe material symbol:
Features:                     

  • The surface feels smooth to the touch
  • Medium to high gloss
  • Can also be printed (e.g. reptile look)

Properties:

  • Manufactured from the outside layer of animal
    skins  (cattle, pig, calf)
  • A natural material that must be able to
    “breathe“

Care:

  • Leather shoes require wax, so that the leather stays soft and supple and does not dry out
  • Brightens up the colour of your shoes
  • Gives protection against water and dirt
  • Makes shoes shine

Tip:

Never polish your shoes while they are still wet; the shoe cream mixes with the water and the shoes take longer to dry.

PATENT LEATHER

Features:

  • Glossy
  • Very smooth surface

Properties:

  • Leather with a layer of PVC or PU

Care:

  • Dust is quickly attracted to patent leather shoes; clean your shoes regularly, in order to get rid of dust and dirt
  • Brings the gloss back to your shoes

Tip:
Use a soft cloth to apply and rub in the patent leather shoe care products.

METALLIC LEATHER

Alternative material names:
Metal-layered leather, silver-gloss leather, gold-gloss leather, bronze gloss leather

Features:

  • Glossy metallic surface with or without glitter effect
  • Medium to high gloss
  • Surface is smooth to the touch

Properties:

  • Leather with additional layer usually of PVC or PU

Care:

  • Brings the metallic shine back to your shoes
