Waxed & oiled

This term applies to the following products in the Tana assortment :

WAXED NUBUCK

Alternative material names:
Oiled leather, matt leather, waxed leather

Shoe material symbol:   

Features:

• The surface looks rough and feels oily to the touch
• Fairly rigid material

Properties:

• Manufactured from an outside layer of animal skin
• Impregnated with wax

Care:

• Suede or buckskin shoes of waxed leather must be rewaxed or treated with oil from time to time in order to keep them soft and supple
• Restores original colour

Tip:
The shoe care products for these materials contain oils; these tend to make the leather darker after treatment. Small stains can be made to disappear.

OILED NUBUCK

Alternative material names:
Oil-treated leather, matt leather

Shoe material symbol:   

Features:

• The surface looks rough and feels oily to the touch
• Soft material
• Mostly available in darker colours due to oils used

Properties:

• Manufactured from an outside layer of animal skin
• Impregnated with oils

Care:

• Suede or buckskin shoes which have a waxed leather must be rewaxed or treated with oil from time to time in order to keep them soft and supple

Tip:
Treating these shoes with care products can cause the leather to go somewhat darker after treatment. Small stains can be made to disappear.
